demyelinate is the journal of a twentysomething transabled MS-wannabe grrl.
a…what? transabled? MS-wannabe?
Alright, I’ll explain further. I’m a twentysomething girl, living in North America. I work full time. I hang out with friends. I read. I travel. I also wish that I had multiple sclerosis. This last fact is the one that this site specifically deals with. I set this up as a place to write about that, as it’s not something that’s generally understood in society.
I use the term transabled to describe myself, and though it usually refers to someone who wants or needs to have a specific disability (e.g. being paraplegic, blind, etc.), I think it still fits well for someone like me, that wants a specific disease rather than a specific disability. On a technical level, this is BIID (body identity integrity disorder).
